After the come down of the new year, and as we inch towards Spring, we may find ourselves yearning for a rebirth. A rebirth happens on 3 levels: physically, mentally and energetically.
As a woman who has been and will continue to be many different versions of myself, I’ve had a lot of opportunities to witness my own rebirths. What I’ve learned is this – when I make changes that improve my physical wellness, my mental wellness improves along with it and my energy glows as a result.
A cleanse is a grounded approach to making positive changes in your entire experience. As we improve the functionality of our organs, we improve every bodily system. Removing gunk from the body is like removing darkness from the soul and negative thoughts from the mind. It’s all connected! Nature always provides, so of course nature has blessed us with so many herbs that work and communicate well with our bodies as if they were created to do so.
Here are my go-to herbs for a well-rounded and effective cleanse and reset:
- Milk Thistle: Guardian of the Liver - Milk thistle supports optimal liver function and is rich in a compound called silymarin. It helps to protect our liver cells from damage that can occur from alcohol, diet and environmental toxins. Most will also notice clearer skin when taking milk thistle because when your liver is doing its job, your skin doesn’t have to pick up the slack!
- Dandelion: Detoxifying Duality - This bright and yellow flower gets deemed as a lawn nuisance, but in an herbalist’s eyes, its gold! Dandelion is gentle, versatile and can be consumed in many creative ways. The root supports liver and kidney function and helps to flush excess fluids from the body. It can be sipped as tea, taken as a tincture and you can add dandelion greens to smoothies or meals.
- Turmeric: The Golden Elixir - Most turn to turmeric for a healthier inflammatory response for achy joints, but did you know how supportive this root is to cleanse the body? When organs are inflamed, they cannot function optimally and become sluggish. Turmeric brings light to the situation and clears a path for toxins to exit.
- Schisandra: The Superhero - This berry is special. Being salty, sweet, bitter, pungent and sour, it has an affinity for several body systems and supports over all health. Schisandra stands out in a cleanse as it supports liver metabolism. It also supports steady energy, healthy stress response and healthy skin.
- Nettle: The Refresher - Nettle is less of a cleaner and more of a rejuvenator! While the former herbs are helping to clean you out, this herb replenishes you with nutrients and minerals. It also contains chlorophyll which supports energy and vitality. Adding a dose of nettle tincture to a glass or bottle of water with a squeeze of lime, a touch of honey and a pinch of sea salt is like nature’s "Gatorade!"
These herbs can be used on their own, or in combination with each other to create a versatile and multi-talented team. Deep Cleanse combines all of these herbs, along with some other cleansing supportive botanicals to help you rejuvenate, cleanse and level up to your best self!
Combining these herbs with a healthy diet and lots of hydration, you can cleanse your body without it disrupting your life. With every dedicated day, you will start to feel your mood become sunnier and your energy become lighter. Let the rebirth begin!
