The Health Benefits of Super-Seaweed Bladderwrack
Here in Boulder, Colorado our highly innovative community is the ideal home, not only to plant-loving folk, but also to many of today's most brilliant tech wiz's and their pioneering software start-up companies.
Whether you are a techie yourself or not, you may be facing the common modern-day challenge of how to create balance in life between relaxing, nourishing activities and time with technology, which tends to stimulate and, over time, tax your nerves. For better or for worse, we love our technological world and welcome its opportunities.
Although while some of us have the luxury of deciding how to regulate our computer time if we begin to feel frazzled nerves or eyestrain, those who work daily as specialists in the technological world do not. Pushing the mind to analyze, strategize, and troubleshoot for long hours creates a particular kind of cognitive stress which takes a toll on the body. If you have ever experienced "frazzled nerves," or felt "zapped" after a long work day you know what this is about.
Adrenal and nervous system support are paramount for maintaining mental focus and for the body to recover on a daily basis from our modern lifestyle. The herbs offered in Deep Stress Adrenal Rescue with Ashwagandha (Nettles, Oat seed, Thyme, Bladderwrack, Borage, Skullcap, Parsley, American Ginseng, Motherwort & Peppermint) have been traditionally used to nourish the nervous system, bolster the health of the kidneys and adrenals, and freshen the mind.
Bladderwrack's latin name is Fucus vesiculosus, and it is a type of brown-colored kelp. Fucus vesiculosus grows in the Baltic Sea, Atlantic Ocean, and North Pacific Ocean. It is named "Bladderwrack" for its characteristic bladder-like air pouches which allow it to float on the surface of the ocean. As is typical of an ocean plant, Fucus vesiculosus has enormous yin balancing qualities, which means the power to soothe, cool and restore.
Of particular note in Badderwrack's lengthy list of beneficial constituents are vitamins A and C, trace minerals, zeaxanthin, calcium, potassium, sodium, and magnesium. Trace minerals build stamina by replenishing the body of the nutrients we typically burn through about halfway through our day. One of the primary carotenoids for good eye health is zeaxanthin, and it is specifically known to benefit eyes exposed to bright light. Magnesium is the ultimate go-to mineral for calming nervous system stress and easing muscle tension.
Bladderwrack has also been used as a topical treatment for skin issues, such as skin aging spots and burns. This seaweed also has been known to support a healthy inflammatory reponse. Bladderwrack is rich in free radical scavengers which helps protect our bodies from oxidative stress.
