Hi Hayley, can you tell us a little about yourself and how you got involved with natural products? Hi! I'm Hayley and I'm a stay-at-home mom to two adorable kiddos — my three-year-old daughter and seven-year-old son. I'm also a doula in the process of certification. I'm obsessed with all things herbs, health and wellness, and natural foods and remedies. I first got involved with natural products about 10 years ago. I was extremely sick at the time and woke up every day completely sick to my stomach. I was taking over-the-counter meds daily just to function and was starting to react terribly to those with additional problems. My husband (fiancé at the time) took me to his chiropractor to see if he could help. He took a look at my diet and started recommending changes (I literally had no clue what eating healthy was at that time) and immediately got me off the meds I was taking and recommended slippery elm, pau'darco, Ginger, digestive enzymes, and aloe Vera juice. Within a day of taking these herbs and supplements I woke up for the first time in years not feeling sick. I was totally amazed! My love of herbs began, and I have been pursuing more knowledge of wellness and natural remedies ever since. I've been using WishGarden for so long I can't actually remember the first time I heard about it. I think I might have been at Whole Foods trying to find some immune-boosting herbs and a sales associate must have recommended Kick-Ass Immune to me. I loved it and remember contacting WishGarden to get a list of all their products. I found the pregnancy and lactation line and have loved and recommended it to all my pregnant mama friends ever since.
WishGarden just started an Ambassador Program, which you are a part of — and you are the recipient of this month's Ambassador of the Month Award. What creative ways have you come up with to get the word out about WishGarden Herbs in your community? I live in a neighborhood full of young families. I've been recommending WishGarden Herbs to my friends and neighbors and they've been seeing my Facebook and Instagram posts and requesting samples. I've started putting sample bags with samples, coupons, product and dosing info papers together to bring to my friends. They've loved them and have started sharing their success stories. I'm going to have a whole neighborhood full of "WishGarden Mamas" soon! One of the worst things as a mom is seeing your child sick or hurting and not knowing what to do for them. I love that WishGarden gives me a whole arsenal of remedies for my child at my fingertips. They are effective and my children love them. They actually pretend to be sick so I will give them some! My mom friends are appreciating this so much as well.
Natural products seem to be all the rage these days. Do you think we are witnessing a change in consumer attitudes towards the environment and natural products? Absolutely. I think a lot people are growing tired of conventional medicine and recognizing that at times it has simply put a Band-Aid on symptoms without providing true healing in many cases. I think people are starting to realize that you have to take charge of your own health and be your own advocate and as a result are trying to find answers for themselves. This has lead to a greater awareness of what we eat, the products we use in our homes and on our bodies, and what's in our medicine cabinets. It's funny because as a "crunchy mama" I used to be a little different from everyone else but now I'm finding it's more and more the new normal.
What is your favorite herb and why? That's a hard one! I love slippery elm because it has truly worked wonders for me and is so effective for many different things. I also love Echinacea and have been recently discovering the benefits of Holy Basil and have been pretty amazed.
